Learn to fly
Whether you've dreamed about it for thirty years or you just watched a Cessna float over the valley, our flight school is where Johnson County pilots get their start — in some of the most beautiful training airspace in Tennessee.
Skydive Mountain City
Tandem skydiving is one of the most popular ways to experience skydiving for the first time. Patrons are attached to a tandem skydiving instructor, jump from the airplane, and experience freefall before the parachute opens and the jumpers glide back down to earth — over ridgelines, farmland and Watauga Lake country.

Why come here
"Johnson County is the place where the sun rises first over Tennessee. Here, you can breathe easy, slow down and drink in the beauty. The scenic splendor of the land rivals that of the Great Smoky Mountains, with adventurous trails, peaceful fishing streams, and the unsoiled beauty of Watauga Lake."
— Dick Grayson
Whether you drive in through Butler, Laurel Bloomery, Shady Valley or Trade, you will encounter scenic country roads, spectacular views, friendly people and no traffic lights until you reach Mountain City. Or simply fly in — we'll have the coffee on.
